Beauty is the occasion
Love Letters from Venus, No. 1

My love,
I bought flowers again today, as I so often do. I don’t wait for an anniversary or an apology. Beauty is the occasion. A room without flowers feels unfinished to me. It feels like a yearning for more aliveness. More beauty.
Hello. I have been thinking of you.
Not as an idea, as a warmth through my body. The kind of presence that feels like ripe fruit dripping down the lips and warm skin under your fingertips.
This is how I live. I treat the day as something I get to enter with my whole self. All of me.
We are not becoming Divine. We are remembering that we already are. Nothing in you has to be escaped for God to be here now. You do not need to leave your body to find the sacred. You do not need to rise above your hunger, your skin, your wanting... all that makes you, you. The path is not up and away. The path is in.
This is tantra, as I have lived it and taught it.
Tantra is not a bedroom trick, and it is not a demand that you become purer. It is the recognition that existence itself is the beloved. Breath. Food. Flowers. Sex. Grief. Sun on the floor. A smile. A morning. All of it is already holy, yet we often spend so much time attempting to escape the very thing we are seeking.
For a long time many of us were taught the opposite; that spirit lives somewhere cleaner than the body, that flesh is a distraction, that pleasure is sin. I don’t believe that. There is nothing unholy about our bodies. There is nothing unholy about being alive in them. The body is not a problem to transcend. The body is the temple. Pleasure is a portal to the Divine.
I am having a love affair with existence. I romance the small things. Fresh water dripping into the vase. Light dancing across the room. A stretch that starts in the hips and becomes a full body YES. Sex that stays long enough to turn into raw prayer. Presence so deep that silence has a pulse. This is devotion for me: not an idea I think or an action I take, but a way I experience the world.
I like being desired. I like desiring. I like a love that can sit among the flowers and also meet me in the shadows without treating the dark as separate from God. Sacredness and sexuality were never separate paths.
If you have ever made love to an ordinary morning on purpose, you already know this teaching. You already know that holiness is not waiting in some future version of you or in a different state you must obtian. It is here. In the body you already have. In the life you are already in.
This is the first letter. I will write you every Wednesday. Consider these envelopes you can open whenever you need to remember these delicious truths.
In the meantime, romanticize the small things until they confess to you that they were holy all along.
Yours,
Krystal aka Venus
